Brand & Practice

Culture Pilot’s own brand is a living expression of its practice, with positioning, voice, visual identity, digital experiences, content, and operational systems evolving together.

The firm combines strategic advisory and go-to-market planning with integrated execution, embedded leadership, and long-term brand stewardship. Its work spans client organizations, original ventures, and cultural and community initiatives.

As both practitioner and proving ground, Culture Pilot applies strategic thinking, creative development, emerging technologies, and operational discipline to its own evolution before bringing that experience to the organizations it serves.

History & Evolution

Founded by Tim DeSilva and Kara Gray in 2003, Culture Pilot has evolved from a traditional brand agency into an integrated growth strategy practice spanning advisory, brand and marketing execution, event curation, retail and ecommerce, and applied technology.

Beginning in 2008, the firm developed cloud-based systems and communication practices to support increasingly distributed event, production, and client work. Following the sale of its office building, Culture Pilot completed a transition to a fully distributed operating model in 2013–2014, preceding the widespread adoption of remote work.

The practice-led approach continues through the firm’s work in digital products, operational technology, automation, and artificial intelligence.
